In the story The Bad Beginning by Lemony Snicket the three Baudelaire children (They are Violet 14 an amateur inventor, Klaus a proficient reader, and Sunny the baby with teeth more powerful than anything else.) have to understand that their lives are over. Since, their parents perished in a fire the Baudelaire children are forced to live with their nemesis Count Olaf to understand that he is trying to steal their fortune. In the beginning the Baudelaire children are hopeless and miserably but in the end, they are relived and joyful. I can not wait to read the rest of the books.
